In 2025, IEEE VIS once again brings together visualization researchers and practitioners from universities, government, and industry to discuss their newest findings on the design and use of visualization tools. This year, the premier conference on visualization and visual analytics is held in Vienna, Austria.
With an acceptance rate of generally below 25%, IEEE VIS is highly selective. We are therefore particularly delighted that the SFB-TRR 161 is represented at the main conference and the associated workshops and events with numerous contributions.

Further Contributions to IEEE VIS
Aside from conference and workshop papers, SFB-TRR 161 members contribute to the program of IEEE VIS 2025 in numerous other ways. The panel “ VisAble: Who do we exclude by current visualization practices and how do we change that?” is co-organized by Nina Dörr (A08), Sita Vriend (A01), Katrin Angerbauer (A08), and Michael Sedlmair (A08). At the workshop “ Human Factors in Immersive Analytics”, Harald Reiterer, project leader of Project C01, gives the keynote “Fluid Interaction for Immersive Analytics”. The SFB-TRR 161 supports the workshop “ Uncertainty Visualization: Unraveling Relationships of Uncertainty, AI, and Decision-Making” with funding for the keynote “Quantifying and Communicating Uncertainty in Visual Data Analysis: Approaches and Challenges” by Lars Linsen (University of Münster). Michael Sedlmair (A08) participates as a panelist in the panel discussion “ IEEE VIS Reviewing - On a Path to Self-Destruction?”. The meetup " VISability Meetup: Disabled and Accessibility Researchers at VIS" is organized by Katrin Angerbauer (A08). Last but not least, David Hägele (A01) participates in the SciVis Challenge 2025 with “Aludrill: Visual Analytics for Exploring Scrap-Based Aluminium Alloy Simulations with Drilldown”.
We wish all our members a successful time at IEEE VIS 2025!
