October 13, 2024; Christina Warren
Congratulations to Daniel Keim, professor of Data Analysis and Visualization in the Computer Science department at the University of Konstanz and project leader of SFB-TRR 161 project A03. Together with his co-authors Dominik Sacha, Andreas Stoffel, Florian Stoffel, Bum Chul Kwon, and Geoffrey P. Ellis, he will receive an IEEE VIS Test of Time Award (10 Year) for their paper “ Knowledge Generation Model for Visual Analytics” (IEEE VAST 2014).
The Test of Time Award recognizes publications that have been published at previous conferences, but whose content is still highly relevant and which have had a major impact and influence within and beyond the visualization community. It will be presented at the IEEE VIS 2024 Conference, which was originally scheduled to be held in St. Pete Beach, Florida, USA from October 13 to October 18, but was converted to a fully virtual conference due to the consequences of hurricane Helene and hurricane Milton for Florida.
With an acceptance rate of generally less than 25%, IEEE VIS is highly selective. We are therefore particularly delighted that the SFB-TRR 161 is represented at IEEE VIS and the associated workshops and events with numerous other contributions.
At the IEEE Workshop on Uncertainty Visualization: Applications, Techniques, Software, and Decision Frameworks, our speaker Daniel Weiskopf (A01, B01, INF, Z, MGK, Ö) will give the keynote “Uncertainty Visualization: The Importance of Quantification”. The workshop Progressive Data Analysis and Visualization (PDAV), which is taking place for the first time this year, is co-chaired by project leader Michael Sedlmair (A08) and supported by the SFB-TRR 161.
We wish our members a successful time at IEEE VIS 2024!
