To make a research career is hard to any scientist, in general, but being a female researcher in Computer Science, brings even more challenges.

That's why Alexandra Diehl from the University of Konstanz organized a Meetup at the IEEE VIS 2017 named " Career Plans for Women in Visualization". The goal of the Meetup session, that was supported by the SFB-TRR 161, was to discuss possible career paths of women in the field of Visualization and Visual Analytics. Successful female researchers as Penny Rheingans, Kelly Gaither, Melanie Tory, Rita Borgo and Tatiana Von Landesberger shared their career experience and highlighted guidelines and lessons learned.

About 30 participants, students from the USA, Europe, Asia, and Latinoamerica, came to listen about female role models in their field of research which will be a great opportunity to learn from their experience. Also successful senior researchers, among them male-colleagues, came to follow the Meetup.
