Visualization Methods for Biological Data
Event date:  March 17, 2016 10:00 AM  to 11:00 AM

The Internet offers a multitude of diverse applications deployed over best effort networks utilizing existing infrastructures without any quality guarantees. The quality as perceived by the end user (Quality of Experience, QoE) becomes more and more important for the success of services and the corresponding stakeholders. The intention of this talk is two-fold. First, QoE measures and models are discussed with a focus on HTTP video streaming. Second, a closer look is given to crowdsourcing as tool for researchers to assess QoE and to conduct their own subjective user studies for the evaluation of multimedia systems. The challenges and key issues of crowdsourcing are outlined and the best practices for the design and evaluation of crowdsourcing tests are summarized.

Quality of Experiences: Measures and Models

  • Generic relationships on QoE
  • MOS and Beyond

Crowdsourced QoE: Design, Implementation and Analysis

  • Challenges & key issues for designing and evaluating crowdsourced user studies
  • Best practices on design and statistical evaluation.
